Almost five years ago,

I painted my first ball knob 
for my daughter's room.
 I loved how the spiral looked on a sphere.

and have since been surprised by how much

peace and power this shape contains.

 On a recent trip to Ireland,

I saw pagan carvings of this symbol
in the stone of Megalithic sites.
I couldn't help but feel connected
to those prehistoric people
who found meaning in creating the spiral.
